Collioure, the jewel of the Rocky Coast
If the beaches of the Catalan coast are not necessarily your passion, you can always push your trip a little further on towards Spain and make a stopover on the Côte Vermeille. Collioure awaits you there. The nature campsite La Tour de France is only 45 minutes away from Collioure. 50 km separates you from the jewel of the Rocky Coast. Whether you want to stroll through its colourful lanes or bathe in its creeks, Collioure is a must when you take a holiday in the Eastern Pyrenees. There is one drawback, and not the least when you flee from the hustle and bustle of the coast and the crowds. In summer, it is very difficult to drive and park in Collioure. But, such a setting is well deserved. It will thus be necessary to envisage leaving very early to take full advantage of a beautiful day in Collioure.
Still on the Côte Vermeille, the Anse de Paulilles also deserves your full attention. It is certainly the easiest cove to reach. A beautiful pebble beach, a pontoon for the children, a small restaurant with a sea view and the day becomes magical.
For the most daring, the coastal path which leaves Argeles-sur-Mer to reach Spain will enable you to reach creeks which are much less frequented in the middle of summer. Wild creeks which can only be reached by boat or after a few minutes walk.

Tautavel Museum of Prehistory
The village of Tautavel is only 10 minutes away from the campsite.
This small Catalan village has become famous since archaeological research has uncovered a skull of a prehistoric man, the now famous Tautaval man.
Today, the village houses a large prehistory museum, accessible to all. Workshops are regularly organised there for children. Learn how to light a fire, how to carve stone in the manner of a prehistoric man, or how to interpret prehistoric drawings. A reconstruction of the cave should be of particular interest to children.
Every year, in August, a prehistory festival is organised for 3 days around the museum in the streets of the village.

But the Museum of Prehistory is not the only treasure of the town of Tautavel. For lovers of climbing, the Gorges du Gouleyrous offers the most beautiful cliffs of the department. Routes have been opened and secured so that everyone can add to the pleasure of the stopover in complete safety.
And for those who would prefer idleness to strong sensations, swimming is highly recommended in the Gorges du Gouleyrous. A fresh and limpid water awaits you there for a few refreshing hours.
